The BitBox02 Bitcoin-only Edition is a hardware wallet designed for Bitcoin holders who prioritize security and simplicity. Its firmware is permanently limited to Bitcoin support, which reduces the attack surface compared to multi-currency models.
This edition is engineered in Switzerland with a secure dual-chip architecture that combines a dedicated secure chip with fully open-source firmware to protect against tampering and unauthorized access.
Users confirm and review transaction details on the integrated OLED display and navigate using capacitive touch sensors with three simple gestures to easily
enter your password and
navigate your BitBox02.
Backups can be created instantly onto a microSD card via the BitBoxApp, with optional display of recovery words for manual backup.
The BitBoxApp also enables connection to Bitcoin nodes and community wallet software through open standards.
The Bitcoin-only firmware is locked at factory setup and cannot be changed to support other cryptocurrencies, making this edition a focused tool for long-term BTC self-custody.
